ELVIS inspection in Calgary for Uber and rideshare.

ELVIS stands for Enhanced Livery Vehicle Inspection Standards. Every vehicle used for Uber or other rideshare driving needs to pass it once a year. When your vehicle passes, you get the paperwork for your visit to the livery office.

Clean interior

Unlike most inspections, ELVIS requires a clean, tidy interior. Take out personal items, then vacuum and wipe the surfaces before you come in.

Inspection ready

• Clear out extra cargo so every part of the vehicle can be reached. If we cannot get to an area, the appointment may have to be rebooked.
• Take children's car seats out. Every seat belt is tested, and a car seat often blocks one. If we have to remove a car seat, it is not put back in.
• Leave the wheel lock key on the passenger seat or in the cup holder. The wheels come off for this inspection. Without the key, the appointment may need to be rebooked, or the locks removed by force, which destroys them.

Your vehicle is a source of income, so do not leave the inspection to the last minute. Book about a month before your renewal date. That leaves time for any repair it needs, such as brakes or tires.

The inspection itself takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. We recommend dropping the vehicle off: if a repair is needed, we can often do it the same day while the vehicle is here. You get a quote first, and nothing is done without your yes.
